Working within our Social Workers in Schools (SWIS) service, this role focuses on leading a dedicated social services team to support tamariki and whānau to achieve positive social, educational, and wellbeing outcomes.
As Practice Manager, you will guide and support Social Workers to deliver high-quality, strengths-based services within school communities. You will play a key role in building strong partnerships with schools, empowering your team, and ensuring services are responsive, culturally grounded, and impactful.

About the Role
As a Social Workers in Schools Practice Manager, you will:
- Lead and manage a high-performing Social Services team within the SWIS programme
- Provide professional supervision, coaching, and development for Social Workers
- Build strong relationships with school principals and staff across a cluster of schools
- Support improved social, educational, and wellbeing outcomes for tamariki and whānau
- Ensure delivery of services aligns with contract milestones and organisational goals
- Collaborate with community networks to strengthen service impact and reach
- Uphold high standards of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism in all interactions
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications
- Relevant bachelor’s qualification in Social Services
- Registered Social Worker
- Full, clean New Zealand Driver Licence
- Legal entitlement to work in New Zealand
Skills and Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with children and families, ideally within an NGO
- Experience in a senior or leadership role within social services
- Experience providing or supporting social work supervision (preferred)
- Strong understanding of school-based or community service environments
- Ability to lead, support, and work collaboratively within a management team
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Confidence in data analysis, reporting, and Microsoft Office tools
