Auckland, Aotearoa, New Zealand.

2 June 2026

ATWC is delighted to acknowledge Evan Welch Davies, a long‑serving member of the ATWC Board, who has been appointed an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM) in the 2026 King’s Birthday Honours.

Evan has received this honour for services to business and governance, recognising a distinguished career that has shaped major New Zealand organisations and contributed significantly to national and community outcomes.

Evan was the founding Chief Executive and Managing Director of SkyCity Entertainment Group, serving from 1996 to 2007. During this time, he led the conception, licensing, development, and opening of SkyCity Auckland and the Sky Tower, now among Aotearoa’s most iconic landmarks. His leadership helped establish SkyCity as a major commercial and tourism entity in New Zealand.

He is currently the Chief Executive of the Todd Group, and has contributed extensively to governance across the public, private, and not‑for‑profit sectors. His service includes appointments on multiple boards, advisory groups, and charitable trusts, spanning areas from the arts to central and local government.

Evan’s long‑standing involvement with ATWC, Auckland City Mission, and the Melanesian Trust Board reflects his deep alignment with the values, whakapapa, and mission of Anglican social services. His strategic clarity, commercial insight, and commitment to community wellbeing have strengthened ATWC’s governance and supported the organisation through periods of growth and change.

“This is a truly well‑deserved recognition of Evan’s enormous contribution to governance in Aotearoa. We are privileged and grateful that he continues to support ATWC. On behalf of all Trustees, past and present, I extend our warmest congratulations and acknowledge the value he has brought to our Board over many years,”

— Kevin Brewer, Board Chair, ATWC.

ATWC warmly congratulates Evan on this national honour and acknowledges the significant contribution he continues to make to our organisation and to communities across Aotearoa.
