International Women’s Day 2019

We celebrate women everyday through the work we do. ATWC’s Social Workers are committed to the cause of gender equality, self-determination and women’s rights.

The International Federation of Social Workers policy statement on women / wahine asserts: Human rights are women’s rights; accordingly, social workers recognise that almost every issue of social and economic justice is a women’s issue.

Our Social Workers support women in many ways … they strengthen networks around their clients, they help to reduce isolation, and they work hard to increase their client’s security in situations where their physical or mental health is at risk. Our Social Workers are always advocating within systems on their client’s behalf, sometimes in the face of structural or institutional sexism.

Everyday is a Women’s day at ATWC and we want to thank all our Social Workers for the unswerving and steadfast roles they take in the lives of the amazing women and families we serve.
