COUNSELLING IN SCHOOLS
ATWC has some primary school-based counsellors who offer children individual or group sessions. We currently offer Counselling in Schools at Wymondley Road School and Te Papapa School.
We also offer programmes tailored to meet specific needs such as building self-esteem, developing social skills and dealing with grief and loss.
Our Thinking Smart programme is designed to increase participants’ awareness of how anger affects individuals and those around them. Parental involvement is encouraged in this eight-week programme which is delivered to children at school.
ATWC counsellors are also available to consult on difficult situations that may arise in a school regardless of whether or not the school has an ATWC counsellor or social worker based there.
We can also give presentations to school staff on social and emotional developmental issues that are relevant to their school community.
